| U13 Best & Fairest - Tom Cutler gets one away at Greythorn Park |
Best & Fairest – Tom Cutler, without doubt our stand-out player for the season. Tom’s leadership this year has been critical to the improvement of the team. A lot of the pressure was taken off Tom
this year as others stepped up – this made Tom an even better player and he has deservedly been selected in the YJFL U14 Squad for the 2009 Metropolitan Junior Championships next year.
Runner Up Best & Fairest – Riley Tempany, what a great recruit Riley has been. Every good team needs to have that little cheeky guy who gets up the nose of the opposition. To go with that, he is a very fine footballer. Really made the difference around the packs and was the perfect support for our big-men. Will be a dominant player next year.
3rd Best & Fairest – Ken Thomas, as mentioned earlier, Ken found a new level for his footy this year. Ken’s run was fantastic to watch and was instrumental in developing our style of play. Ken gives his absolute all for the team. Will be a formidable player in U14’s.
Most Improved – James Bruce, a lot of coaches have project players – Brucey was mine. Last year I could see some real talent, but he was lazy on the field. Brucey probably had the whip cracked on him more than any other player, but the fruits were seen by everyone on a Sunday. He is probably the most dominant centre half forward in the competition and also excelled when thrown on the ball. Is scary to think what he could do in U14’s. I have that whip ready.
Coach's Award – Andrew Kennedy, as players get older, coaches need to be able to rely on those who stand up as leaders. Andrew, along with a number of others, really revelled in his leadership role. For team balance (what a great term) Andrew was mainly down back, and he became the General of the backline. As the season went on Andrew encouraged his team mates to improve and work hard making my job so much easier. Andrew gives his all for the team.
